5 Lessons learnt from Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth

3) Brendan Rodgers needs to get the right balance in central midfield

Liverpool started with Jordan Henderson and James Milner in central midfield against Bournemouth and when Henderson came off in the second half due to injury, Emre Can replaced him. Against a side like Bournemouth we managed to get away with it but against a side with stronger central midfielders, Rodgers is going to need to play with all three in Can, Henderson and Milner and not just the two.

We saw Adam Lallana playing more centrally against Bournemouth and that did not seem to work well. It would be better to sacrifice a player like Lallana and have Can playing as the holding midfielder which would give Henderson and Milner more opportunities to go forward as they both have the abilities to find the back of the net or create goal scoring opportunities.
