Liverpool are facing a battle with Arsenal to sign 25-year old Greek striker Konstantinos Mitroglou according to The Sunday Express.

Mitroglou who has bagged in four hat-tricks already this season for Greek side Olympiakos is one of Europe’s hottest strikers and the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and Genoa are also said to be after his signature. It is being reported that the striker would only cost £7million which is a snip if he is able to carry his Olympiakos form to Liverpool.

Currently Liverpool have Sturridge and Suarez firing in the goals and it will take something special to break those two up. Liverpool are still a striker short in my opinion considering that the only out and out strikers at the club are Sturridge, Suarez and Aspas. To be a top team in the Premier League you need at least four good strikers in your squad.

Iago Aspas who joined Liverpool in the summer has struggled to get going and Liverpool would need another firing striker to come in if Suarez or Sturridge get injured. On the other hand, if Suarez does decide to leave Liverpool in the January transfer window as is being mooted, then Liverpool would need a replacement. Mitroglou may be a decent enough replacement especially for the low fee he is commanding. The other question would then be, “Is he good enough for Liverpool and would he adjust to the Premier League?”

Never heard of the guy and this is only a show reel, but I am rather impressed with the way he finished the goals off, nice positioning and looks good in the air

  2. Ekemini Joseph says:

If he wil understand premier league, an adapt liverpool style of football with borini out on loan aspas is yet to hit the ground for his new club. I think it wil make sense if liverpool can capture him in that bargain price.

I am Greek fan of Olympiakos and Liverpool fan of course! Mitroglou is made for Epl. He is great player with unbelievable technique for his height. He has the goal in his dna and he is a great finisher with many ways! He has a release clause 10 million euro. Go for him Mr B.R is a modern striker with high i.q and very cheap. Defenetely better than aspas he reminds me Christian Vieri!

I think he is a decent enough striker good in the air and with both feet , With that price tag I think he is worth the risk
