Can anyone remember the impact Ray Houghton , John Aldridge , John Barnes & Peter Beardsley had in their first season together ?

It’s remarkably similar this time around too , all of them were very intelligent team players too , Beardsley & Saurez are similar , Barnes & Downing arent similar in style but both were/are the best winger in the league & both are similar in match intelligence , but its almost impossible to compare anyone to Barnsey , he is truly an all time great .
Aldo & Carroll can easily be compared , both were unfashionable purchases & neither one over complicates their game & both were/are tactically excellent & both are very consistent , Aldo had more of an out & out goal scorers poaching style than Andy but both are comparable none the less .
Houghton was an Irish Glaswegian With enough energy to light up half of England & enough brains to play central midfield , Right midfield or just behind the striker , he created & scored a lotta important goals , Although I’d say Meireles or Kuyt but without Rays heart are closer to him in game play but Adam has similar ability to create & score important goals .
“Will we win the title !!? ” I hear you impatiently ask
Well to answer your question I’m going to refer you back to what Fergie said , he knows we are going to be there & he is trying it on , trying to sweeten us up by refering to us as a great club in an attempt to pull the rug out from under our feet , The crafty old B*sturd is worried & he is up to his old tricks , getting his shots in early .
I’m not Mystic Meg , I can’t tell you what we will or won’t win , I can only speak to you as fellow supporters & tell you where I’m placing my money as a man who likes a bet , because after all is said & done ? It’s all in the lap of the gods .
I can however tell you this without a shadow of a doubt in my mind , under Kenny we will be good enough to win the League , We will be good enough to win every competition we enter , we will have no apparent weakness’s & we will be very commanding & domineering throughout the season , nobody is going to enjoy playing us , no one will out play us & no one will out fight us .
I personally expect a top two finish with it all to play for on the last week of the season & I also expect us to win a trophy .
I have had high hopes every season & a broken heart every season since 1990 though so I conservetively , sensibly recomend you all set your sights on a comfortable top 4 finish & start saving up yer pocket money for at least one trip to Wembley .

Three British and three not so British? Downing, Henderson, Carroll, Adam are all British. Suarez and Doni are not. Maybe Scottish isn’t British any more.

2 players who are often caught out for discipline both positionally and in the tackle.
If they play as a 2 man CM pairing, without a DM to mop up, we’ll leak goals and yellow/red cards for sport.
u forgot aquilani ,pal… guy is a good chance creator whn played behind striker.. he has a keen vision and a good exact passing.. but he is physically not strong which he should take care himself..
that has to be the worst load of drivel i have ever had the misfortune to read. comparing downing to john barnes is just mad and to say pepe will have nothing to do only smoke cigars because of our great defense is stuff of the beano,did you have a dream and write it down in haste. if we believe you, we will score 200 goals next season and wont let in any.the truth is we are not in europe.so we can give it our best shot and i think we are going to have a big fight on our hands to get champion league football this should be our first priority and hopefully we can buy some world class players like mata hazard aguero etc etc next season. the reason we missed out on this kind of player this time around is simply the fact that we dont have europe to flash in front of them. the players we have brought in while exciting are not world class we have to be realistic here.
