The Liverpool summer clear out may be about to start now. The Liverpool Echo is reporting that David Ngog may be leaving Liverpool for £4million with Aston Villa and Fulham interested in the 22-year-old striker.
It had been suggested that Ngog was going to move to Sunderland but now that they have signed Connor Wickham, it is very unlikely that they would want to buy another striker this summer.
In May it was said that Damien Comolli valued Ngog at £8million which at the time raised a lot of eyebrows as many fans did not think Ngog was worth that much. It would be great for the club to get £8million but £4million may be a more realistic fee for him and that would be a good business deal for us as we only bought him for a reported £1million from PSG three years ago.
Ngog has managed to score 19 goals in 94 appearances for Liverpool. That is not such a great return for a striker but considering his age, he still has a lot to learn and he will probably get better with time but we do not have that much time to invest in him anymore at Liverpool thus the reason for us needing to get rid of him and bring in a more prolific striker as backup to Suarez and Carroll.
Good luck fella.
We’d be lucky to get 4m for Ngog. For me he is a bottom of the Premier League level striker.
Let me get this right..Ngog at 22 is a failure with a return of 19 goals in 94 games having been bought for £1.5mln while Andy Carroll also 22 is worth £35mln for a return of 34 goals in 97 games from 2006-11. Statistics can be used to mean anything I guess.
I would pay them 4m just to take him of us worst striker I’ve ever seen
to jon:
ngog was bought for 9mill
9m? Sober up please.
94 apps is actually a bit misleading; he didn’t start very many. So 19 goals is actually a decent return.
Santjit… no he was bought for 1.5 million. Also, it is hard to believe that 18 year old Wickham is worth 8-12 million with no EPL experience and yet there are complaints about Ngog for 4 million. Go figure! What a crazy world of football.
just checked it..19 goals in 37 starts, and the remainder as sub apps.
His stats don’t read so bad now, do they?
Don’t get me wrong.. i’m not a fan of him. 4m is a fair price
my mistake
It took Anelka a while to get going, too.
I have been pillared before for supporting Ngog, OK I know he has not been the best player we’ve had, but for a player coming off the bench and playing lone striker time and time again it was never going to work, he wasn’t strong enough, got bullied off the ball to easy.
In the right team he could do well, but needs to play two up front.
For me he gave it his best shot, always remember the Wolves volley, cracking goal. Best wishes for the future David.
Thanks for the input Colin, Put in that context it dosn’t look too bad.
