Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre and Mario Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola have been locked in negotiations this evening with further talks scheduled for tomorrow according to the Liverpool Echo. As such any potential deal seeing the Italian striker make the switch from Milan to the Anfield club will not be confirmed in time to set up a dream debut versus Balotelli’s former team Manchester City on Monday night.

The initial meeting between the two representatives, held at Liverpool’s city centre offices, has been described as productive and should mean Balotelli completing formalities including a medical in the next 48 hours. It has also been suggested that talks today included the topic of attitude and behaviour clauses that could have financial consequences should the controversial striker succumb to his previous ways.

All evidence points toward a speedy completion of the deal and Brendan Rodgers is said to be entirely on board with the idea of signing Balotelli and working with him on a day-to-day basis despite many fans citing the bad boy past of the Milan man as a potential problem.

Balotelli said his goodbyes to teammates today at training and although it is reported no flight to Liverpool is planned as yet, he will surely be jetting in soon. The fee for the deal, rumoured at £16million, was quickly agreed with Milan earlier today.

What do you make of the deal, will Balotelli’s behaviour overshadow his talent? Will he prove to be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts below.
