Liverpool simply did not play well enough on Sunday against West Brom and as a result, we failed to get all three points. This was meant to be a game that we were meant to win and close the gap on the top 3 and at the same time pull away from the chasing pack in to the race for the top 4. But we have slipped up and now we have to look forward to Arsenal on the weekend and make sure we seal all three points in that game.

Many fans have come out and blamed Kolo Toure for the result yesterday. It is so easy to lay the blame on him as he made a school boy error that gifted West Brom the equaliser. The centre back has now come out and talked us through what happened.

“It was a terrible pass by me,” Toure told the Liverpool Echo. “You have to make the right decisions and today I took a bad decision.

“It was my call. I should have passed to one of our players but instead I passed it straight to the striker.

“I just didn’t see him [Anichebe]. I should have played it to Aly [Cissokho] on the side.

“I wasn’t surprised to get the ball from Simon because that’s the way we play.

“I made a very bad pass. I don’t know why I passed the ball into the middle of the pitch, it was crazy.

“I’m disappointed for me and the team. It’s hard to take, especially for me, because we played well.

“It’s difficult to say what we have been talking about in the dressing room but the manager knows how disappointed I am. My pass put the team in a difficult situation.”

Blame Toure all you want but you can not lay all the blame on him. Some may blame Mignolet for passing the ball to him in that position when he could have been better off rolling it out to Skrtel. Liverpool had an opportunity to kill the game off and make it 2-0 when Suarez was through on goal but Foster pulled off a brilliant save to deny him.

What is painful is that Liverpool came out all guns blazing against Everton last weekend and that intensity was lacking against West Brom. One can easily think that Rodgers and his men took this game lightly but there is no such thing as an easy game in the Premier League anymore. Every game for us now until the end of the season should be treated as a cup-tie, even games against relegation threatened teams like West Brom.

Some fans are still going on about our failed January transfer window. We have to get over it! The window is closed so no use moaning about it now. We just have to hope that the players we have now can get us into the top 4 come the last game of the season. We have not been lucky with injuries at all this season and if we can get the likes of Enrique, Sakho, Agger, Johnson (that is already a near first team backline) and Lucas back to full fitness, then we have a really good shot.

  1. Toure made costly mistakes this time the club is talking abt top four, hem is only God and consistent win can take us their otherwise noway for the reds this season.

Kolo’s error was unfortunate however these things happen. It is all about how we react to that now. The transfer window was a big distracrtion and probablly took away the mental and physical energy going into the game. We have to recapture the drive that we had against Everton. We can and will get fourth at a minimum. Things change quickly in football and we could still win the premiership if we can manage to play every game like its a cup final. The young players we have are delivering and the future is bright. YNWA.
