Steven Gerrard called it Liverpool’s best performance under Brendan Rodgers; that is not exaggeration at all. Liverpool were totally brilliant in all aspects of the game against Tottenham. This was meant to be a tight contest between two top teams in the Premier League but Spurs looked like a team battling with relegation as we swept them away. And following that 5-0 win, Spurs have now sacked their manager Andre Villas-Boas today (Monday).

You can imagine how happy the Liverpool players were after this game as they took to Twitter to share their views:

Mamadou Sakho started ahead of Daniel Agger again for this one and it now looks like Sakho and Skrtel are becoming Rodgers’ first choice pairing. The two still need more games together so they can really understand each other but so far so good. Sakho almost got onto the scoresheet again in this game as his header came off the bar. He certainly is proving to be a good attacking threat when he ventures forward.

Luis Alberto came on for a cameo appearance and he did well in grabbing an assist for Suarez. Alberto is showing signs of class and he just needs more game time under is belt to get used to the pace of the Premier League and he will be a valuable asset for the Reds going forward.

Although Aspas did not feature against Spurs he is patiently waiting for his chance to get into the side following his injury. Hopefully against Cardiff he will make an appearance and we cam see what he can do.

Mignolet did not have much to do against Spurs which is a good thing. He has been making too many saves for Liverpool this season and he needed a game off. It was great for Mignolet and his defenders to keep a much needed clean sheet.

Another great performance by the Brazilian playmaker. Liverpool are a much better team with him in it. Although he is playing a bit more on the left of late, he is still being very effective there. One thing Coutinho is trying hard to do is score more goals, I am sure with time it will come if he keeps on trying the way he is. Hopefully this fine form can earn him a place in the Brazil squad for the World Cup.

I must say that I am not entirely happy with Glen Johnson’s recent form. He is lucky he is in a side playing well at the moment or else he would be slated for his poor form. He is a shadow of the player we knew before, maybe he is still not 100% fit following his recent knee injury. We all know he is a quality player and we need him playing at his best now and must cut out his sloppiness.

Spot on about Johnson. He has been woeful in recent weeks. His passing, control and decision-making have been atrocious. He looks like he thinks he’s a lot better than he is. He needs a kick in the arse.
