The transfer rumour mill was buzzing over the weekend when Yann M’Vila was pictured amongst the Liverpool fans during the Merseyside Derby.

Liverpool need a defensive midfielder like M’Vila so you can imagine how excited fans got to see the French midfielder in the crowd. Lucas is the only defensive midfielder at the club and he seriously needs someone to come in and compete with him.

But M’Vila has come out via his Facebook page and explained what he was doing at the Liverpool vs Everton game.

“Thanks to Mamadou Sakho for his invitation. I took a lot of pleasure to come and see this derby between Everton and Liverpool. A great game of football!

“I’m leaving with the Jersey of Steven Gerrard one of my favorite players and of course that of Magda 😉 Thanks again Kim!”

Yann M'Villa to Liverpool

So M’Vila was simply in town to visit his mate Sakho and catch the game AND get a Steven Gerrard jersey.

Hopefully Sakho can convince M’Villa to leave Russian side Rubin Kazan and come join him at Liverpool, we certainly could do with a player of his quality in our midfield.
