Do you remember Oussama Assaidi? When Liverpool signed the Moroccan winger from Heerenveen in the summer of 2012, most of us expected some exciting times from the player but he never really got going as he had very few opportunities in the side under Brendan Rodgers. The few glimpses we saw of Assaidi were promising enough; one could see that he is full of tricks and pace but is still rather raw and needs regular football in the Premier League to become a better player.

Thus Rodgers opted to loan him out to Stoke this season so he gets more football. Stoke Manager, Mark Hughes, welcomed the arrival of the winger and told the club’s official website, “He’s an exciting player, who has great pace and is very direct and will certainly add another dimension to what we already have at the club.”

Assaidi has not featured as regularly for Stoke this season as we would have hoped for as Liverpool fans as he only has two league appearances and three in the cup. But his appearance on Tuesday in the Capital One Cup against Birmingham resulted in Assaidi producing a wonder goal. If he can continue to get more games for Stoke and produce goals like this, then we will welcome him back to Anfield.

Rodgers never gave him a fair chance. I hope he comes back and let’s us see why Rodgers paid good money for him.

What I like is the goal strike that came from out side the box. Few of LFC’s goals come from them. One of them was of course Sturridge’s wonder goal last week.
