Liverpool have been linked with a move for Manchester City striker John Guidetti in the last couple of days with the young Swedish striker having recovered from injury now and looking for regular football which he is unlikely to get at Manchester City.

Guidetti had caused a lot of tension on Twitter as a fake account claiming to be him was saying “I’m NOT going to Liverpool. I’m not desperate.”

As you can imagine, Liverpool fans were mad about this but Guidetti has now tweeted the following via his official Twitter account:

“Just to let everyone know i have NOT, NEVER said or written that about #Liverpool ! I think #Liverpool is an amazing club.”

He added: “There is a fake account that has the name supperguidetti instead of superguidetti ! He is the guy writing these stupid things.”

So there seems to still be some hope of Liverpool signing Guidetti in the January transfer window as we look to strengthen our squad in a bid to finish in the Top 4.

Right now, goals are not a problem for Liverpool with Suarez and Sturridge firing them in at will but if one of them gets injured or suspended then we could be in a spot of bother. Iago Aspas is meant to be our backup striker but he is currently out injured and to be fair, he has not looked great since arriving from Celta Vigo in the summer. Reinforcing our striking department may not be a priority for Rodgers in January but it is an area we need to strengthen. And a player like Guidetti who thinks we are an amazing club could be just what we need, coupled with the fact that he actually can play well!

Should Liverpool make a bid for Guidetti in January?
