Brendan Rodgers has given us an update on Coutinho’s injury today during his pre-match press conference ahead of the game with West Brom on Saturday. Rodgers’ update may not have been quite what we wanted as fans as we had hoped Coutinho would be ready to face West Brom but alas he is still not quite ready yet.

“He might just be short for this weekend,” said Rodgers.

“You always miss quality. He has re-joined training with the group. He’s been on the field doing a lot of physical work. He has joined in with the team on a non-contact basis.

“I think, after the weekend, he’ll be fine. He has got really good strength in his shoulder now; it’s just getting him up to speed in training and joining the group.

“He has been in the last couple of days and has looked brilliant, to be honest – like he has never been away with his flow and fluency with the ball.

“His work has been excellent. It’s great to see him back in and it’s another quality player back for us.”

So if we are still without Coutinho for the West Brom game that means Victor Moses may continue to fill in at the number 10. But I would rather see Rodgers make a change there as clearly Moses has struggled in all the matches he has played at 10.

The game against West Brom would be a good opportunity to give Luis Alberto a start in the number 10 position. The young Spanish playmaker came on against Newcastle and looked decent for 30 minutes. Given that it is a home game against slightly lesser opposition in West Brom, I see no harm in Alberto being given a start. What do you think?
