He was loved by many Liverpool fans for many seasons, he was our star but now we know we will never see him again. I am talking about Pepe Reina. A part of me still feels bitter that we let Pepe go especially in the manner that we did so, by sending him on loan to Napoli without him knowing, and especially with Brendan Rodgers having said he wants to keep Reina at the club so he can challenge new signing Simon Mignolet. We may never got a chance to say goodbye to Reina properly, now that he is on loan to Napoli and almost certain to join another club in the summer.

Reina himself has said that he would relish a permanent move to his boyhood club Barcelona in the summer after his loan spell in Italy.

β€œIt would be great to return to Barcelona,” Reina said. β€œI am very happy that my name is being mentioned, but my goal right now is to put in a good season with Napoli.

“In the summer we will see. I imagine that they will have spoken to a lot of goalkeepers and will have short-listed a number of them.”

Barcelona would be missing out on a great goalkeeper if they do not sign Reina in the summer especially with Victor Valdes making it clear that he will be leaving the Spanish giants.

One can understand why Reina wants to return to Barcelona; that is the club that he started off with and just like Cesc Fabregas he seems to want to go back, prove a point and win titles. Reina can almost be guaranteed to win something when he joins Barcelona as hey are looking very good now and should still be at the top of their game in Spain for a few more seasons (or for as long as they have Messi!).

He would fit in well with Barca. We dont need him anymore as SM is a great young replacement. Pepe was starting to fade and seemed not to care anymore

One mistake we must not do is let reina go to barca for a low fee. We should at least get back the 9m we spent on mignolet. Or better yet swap reina for montoya.

Its very possible if Reina had remain our No.1 we won’t be in top 5 at the moment, he his fading and awful against big stars like van persie etc. He usually get jittery against big teams. He can go to Barca, but we need to recoup enough for his sale. Goodluck to you Pepe.

Riena is free to go, cos we have s.m tht is even having more saves than any other keeper in the epl dis season. Pepe concieves cheap goals more than any other keeper of his age

  5. It will be a great loss to Liverpool if Reina leaves. Actually the one who should leave is Brad Jones.
