It seems like Liverpool will be losing Jonjo Shelvey to Middlesbrough after the Carling Cup Final on Sunday.

Sky Sports is reporting that Liverpool have agreed a deal with the north east club to loan midfielder Jonjo Shelvey for the rest of the season.

Jonjo was on loan at Blackpool in the earlier parts of the season but he was called back to Anfield following the season ending injury to Lucas and the on – off injury problems with Gerrard. Now that Gerrard is fully fit again, I guess Dalglish has seen that Jonjo will not get much more game time this season at Liverpool and would rather loan him out to a team where he can get more games under his belt.

I think this is a good move for Shelvey has he has shown great signs of promise during his time at Liverpool and he certainly has all the signs of being a star in the future. What he really needs now is competitive football, week in and week out. He is still only 19-years-old and will benefit a great deal playing at Middlesbrough.

  1. Great move for Jonjo, though i think he is a better player than Henderson.
