The speculation continues to mount at Liverpool about a new striker joining our ranks this January to help add more goals to our team. The first half of the season has been really poor for Liverpool in front of goal, but we still only find ourselves three points behind Chelsea in fourth place. With the addition of a new striker we may just be able to fire ourselves into a Champions League place.

The Daily Mail is running an exclusive that Kenny Dalglish has made an approach to sign Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha for £10million.

Zaha has caught the eye of many top Premier League clubs and the race would be on for him to be snapped up when Crystal Palace decide to cash in on him which may only be after they find out their fate in the Carling Cup.

Wilfried Zaha is only be 19-years-old which ties into our owners policy of buying the best young talent in the country but Zaha may not be the kind of striker we need right now. I can not see Zaha being signed and been thrown straight into the first team. What we need is a proven goal scorer at the top level who is able to come in and get at least 10 goals for us in the second half of the season.

We have already spent close to £75million buying “the best young British talent” with Carroll, Downing and Henderson and to be honest, none of them have really set the stage on fire at Anfield. Spending another £10million on a player we hope will shine in the future is not the best move right now. What are your thoughts?
