Liverpool make the trip to West Brom on Saturday following our 2-1 win against Stoke in the Carling Cup. With Liverpool taking the Carling Cup seriously this season, we fielded some of our regular starters on Wednesday night but you can be sure that Dalglish is going to make a couple of changes for the trip to West Brom.

Dalglish has spoken out about the selection headaches he is facing these days at Liverpool, which just goes to show the depth we have in our squad.

Dalglish said: “Every game you go into gives you a selection problem. I suppose there is a wee bit more added to that after we got such a positive result at Stoke City, and after playing so well. It’s a nice position to be in.

“The more players we have to pick from then the better chance we have of being successful. We are delighted, like we have said many times before, with the strength of the squad and the effort and the commitment from them all.

“They got their reward the other night. The boys who don’t play as often went out there and did very well. It does give you a problem for the next game.”

Looking ahead to the West Brom game: I see Reina in goal, Enrique will come back at left-back in place of Agger. Hopefully Agger will move back into his more familiar centre-back position alongside Carragher. Kelly was his usual best against Stoke at right-back but since Glen Johnson is fit again, I see Johnson filling in at right-back.

Midfield is where we are blessed with many quality options. This is what I think: Downing will start on the left although he really now needs to put in a big performance as he is not making many fans happy. Lucas will partner Charlie Adam in the middle although Spearing did very well in midweek. Dirk Kuyt will get my vote for the right with Gerrard just playing behind Suarez (if he is fit enough to start).

That would leave us with the quality of Carroll, Bellamy, Henderson, Kelly and Coates on the bench.

Who would you start with against West Brom?
