Liverpool successfully managed to progress to the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup after defeating Stoke 2-1 on Wednesday night. You could see from the side Kenny Dalglish has put out in this competition, that he means business and wants to win this trophy. As the final whistle blew last night, you could see how happy the lads were and Dalglish. Now we have to make sure we push on and win this trophy.

But funny enough, all the big clubs are still in the competition. In seasons gone buy, big clubs have disrespected the cup and fielded reserve team players and youth players. That is still the case with some of the clubs but the reserve players turning out for the Carling Cup still remain quality players which just goes to show the depth these clubs have today.

Liverpool will discover their opponents for the Carling Cup quarter-final on Saturday lunchtime and we could face Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Manchester United.

It would be easy for us to say we hope we play Blackburn, Cardiff or Crystal Palace as it would be the easier tie but what I would really be hoping for is a home tie. We have not played at home this whole season yet in the Carling Cup and I back us to beat any of the remaining teams at Anfield.

Who would you want Liverpool to draw in the Carling Cup quarter-final?

Bring on any team and we show them that we are ready for anyone, including City.

I’m surprised so many people want Cardiff or Palace. I’d rather we play Utd every single week.
