The Mirror is reporting that Liverpool are set to make a £6million bid in January for out of favour Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou.
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has been at Chelsea since 2006 when he joined from Dutch side Feyenoord but now he has gone down the pecking order at Chelsea following the arrival of their new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Kalou is in the final year of his Chelsea deal and it does not look like he will be offered a new deal or that he would want one as he seeks to play more regular first team football, thus Chelsea could be ready to sell him in the January transfer window rather than letting him go for free in the summer.
I am not a huge fan of Kalou but he would give us different options in the Liverpool side if he joined us. For me, he is a player in the Yossi Benayoun mould and given that we tried to sign Benayoun again, Dalglish make be looking for a similar type of player who is able to play out wide, cut-in and has an eye for goal which is what Kalou is capable of.
It is also being reported that Arsenal are after Kalou’s signature as Wenger is an admirer of the player. Do you think Kalou would be a good signing for Liverpool?

if we want to challenge clubs like Chelsea why do we want to buy their bench warmers.
Even if we get him in Jan, he won’t offer us much that will help us mount title/ 4th position challenge this year while, I can’t see him being much useful in the long run
As for next year, assuming (which is a bare minimum imo) we get into UCL, we need to get better players than him anyways
so yeah, really not a good fit for me…and he’s not as good as Yossi either to be frank

i dont rate him if he is a good player why cant he get in the chelski squad…..cause he is shit…..one player i would love on the write of midfield is adam johnson or hazard of lille…i also believe we need a top class stiker and another centre half for the start of next season as well as a right winger
