Joe Cole opened his scoring account for Lille this weekend with a great strike against Lorient as his side were held to a 1-1 draw. We saw glimpses of Cole’s brilliance during his time at Liverpool but it was never consistent enough and thus he was loaned out to the French squad for the rest of the season.

If he had been able to score a couple more goals like this whilst playing for Liverpool, he may still have found himself at Anfield.

How many games he got while at LFC? Now compared that to our big money flop that is Carroll and Henderson, if KD had been fair and persisted with Cole as just as he is doing with these 2 jokers now, i would bet Cole would be doing the same for us.

agree with chan. after a luckless beginning cole was shunted aside. if he’d been given a patient run of games like the utterly talentless Adam and Henderson it might have been different. Joe is still our player, so I hope the best for him, but just as it will be nigh impossible to sit the new boys down after paying such fees, it will be difficult to recall Cole to Anfield even if he has a spectacular season. Meanwhile good for Joe. He’s playing in the champions league and we look headed for sixth again, unless Stoke keep improving, in which case…
