Joe Cole has left Liverpool to join French club Lille on a season long loan. Cole is looking forward to playing in the Champions League with Lille and hopes to get back into the England setup. But the midfielder has said that he is gutted that things did not work out for him at Liverpool following his move from Chelsea last summer.

“There were lots of reasons why I chose Lille – they are a beautiful club, with a family atmosphere and they play attractive attacking football,” Cole said.

“But I like the challenge, too. I want the chance to play in the Champions League, and maybe get people in England watching French football and watching me by bringing some success to the club.

“I admit it hurt me that it did not work out at Liverpool. I am a winner, and it will stay with me that I didn’t have a successful time at the club, because obviously I went with the ambition of being a success.

“But I can’t look back, I have to move on to the next challenge, and this is a perfect challenge.

“Back home, they don’t know much about French football, and I hope to change that.”

I am sad too that it did not work out for you Joe. You are a class act and i hope you would be a success in France.

Andy Carroll could have learn a thing or two from you on what it meant on being a professional.

    Good luck. YNWA.

I thought Liverpool got first refusal on Hazard as part of the deal but that’s not truth.

I read now that Liverpool is paying 60 % of his wages at Lille.

So, to conclude, Lille is getting a player out of this deal, Cole is getting his probably last CL football and Liverpool is getting exactly what?
