Momentum is picking up at Liverpool with speculation linking players away from the club this summer. With the amount of ‘dead-wood’ players we have, it is a surprise that we have not sold most of them by now. One player who I had actually forgotten about that is still on our books is right-back Philipp Degen.

The Swiss international was away on loan at Stuttgart last season after failing to be needed in the Liverpool side. Now with Johnson, Kelly and Flanagan capable of playing at right-back for us, I can not see Degen getting a run in the side at all and thus the link with QPR.

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers have made an enquiry for Degen as they seek to bolster their squad upon their return to the Premier League. For Degen’s sake, it would make sense for him to go to QPR as he is likely of actually getting some game time there. For Liverpool, we may be able to get a small transfer fee for him and get him off our wage bill which is the important thing
