It has been speculation since last night but Liverpool can officially confirm that they have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss terms with Jose Enrique.

An official statment on the Liverpool website read:

Liverpool FC confirmed today that they had agreed a fee with Newcastle United for the transfer of Jose Enrique.

The club have now been given permission to discuss personal terms with the player, who will travel to Liverpool to undergo a medical.

  4. the signing has secured us a top three spot, if we got CB then a top two position is possible and if we get a back up striker then we can challenge for a title.
