Reports today are suggesting that Liverpool are close to completing a deal to bring Birmingham centre-back Scott Dann to the club for £8million.

Liverpool have not strengthened their defence this summer with new signings and have instead opted to focus on the midfield. But it was only a matter of time before some new reinforcements were bought in for the backline.

Dann could prove to be a bargain signing at £8million as other centre-backs such as Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka are being quoted at £17million and we saw Phil Jones joining Manchester United for a similar fee. Dann is still only 24-years-old which ties into FSG’s policy of buying young British talent which can be sold on later for a high fee if need be.

With Skrtel picking up an injury before the start of the season and knowing how injury prone Agger is, it may not be a bad idea at all to bring in another quality centre-back. Dann could easily establish himself as a regular start for Liverpool if he does join us as he has the quality to do so. He was instrumental for Birmingham last term and if he was not injured, Birmingham could have avoided relegation.

Dann all the way; it would be the BEST signing of summer – 100% supportive of this.
He is the best young british defender available at the moment – better than Jones, Cahill, and Smalling.
    Get him!!
