The summer clear-out at Liverpool has not really taken place as much as most fans had expected, the so called ‘dead-wood’ players are still at the club and one of them Christian Poulsen is insisting that he will not be leaving Liverpool this summer and will continue to fight for his place in the side.

Poulsen said, “I have been really happy and I want to play, that’s my goal for the future.

“I am happy there with my family, it’s a good club and they treat me really well.

“I hope I can change my situation and play more. I haven’t heard anything from Liverpool and I am trying to be fit for the new season.

“I think they want me at the club and I am happy to be there and unless they tell me something different I am a Liverpool player for the coming season.”

I doubt Pouslen will get the game time he is hoping for this season as our central midfield options are now great and Poulsen will find himself down the pecking order. The likes of Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Gerrard and even Spearing will be picked first before Poulsen. Although Poulsen has featured quite a bit this pre-season, I am sure Dalglish was only playing him so that he could market the Danish midfielder to other clubs. So far no one has come in with a serious offer for the 30-year-old but hopefully that will change soon before the transfer window closes.
