There is still a suggestion among Liverpool fans that we still need to sign another winger this summer following the arrival of Stewart Downing. If Downing gets injured or is out of form, we are back to square one in having very little width in the side. But should Liverpool splash out more millions on another winger or should young Raheem Sterling be given a chance this season?

We have season that Dalglish has no problem in giving youth a chance in the first team but is Sterling physically ready for the Premier League?

Below is video footage courtesy of ElPistolero1982, showing highlights of Sterling recently against Valerenga when he was given a run out in the first team.

We defo need another winger! I love Kuyt but he does not provide the natural width we need. I would love us to sign Affellay, Hazard or more realistically McCarthy. We have one week to sign 1 or 2 players – hope it happens soon because Sunderland is a tough fixture. We really need Suarez back asap !!

In my opinion Sterling and Suso should make a few cheeky appearances this season – from what I’ve seen the future is very bright for them both !

He’s energetic but needs more coaching in preserving his energy as he was running around a little too like a headless-chicken. That might have been his desire to impress but with more play he will be a talent to reckon with. So, we DO need a winger ( Boudebouz would be more than ideal and affordable even now).

Agree with Simon.Sterling and Suso should get a few games this year. Also Pacheco as back up striker.

Its not a question of choosing one of the two options. we definately need another winger (preferably on the right). this doesnt mean Sterling cant be given some playing time. Like Gerrard said, its a long season. Sterling and a couple of other youth players should be given some playing time.
we still need a RW though

liverpool nees another winger, to act as cover up for downing. Sterling and suso are to younger and under experience. Hazard is good and young. With him sterling and suso will be highly motivated. And hazard call as a winger and a cover up striker.

In my opinion the more pressing need is a CB; Scott Dann or Gary Cahill would be superb! Another winger would come after a CB in my order of preference, but I think it is unlikely one will be signed in this window. The reason being that if a winger was signed it would restrict Henderson’s game time. Henderson may find it hard to get a game in the center of midfield, with Lucas, Gerrard and Adam seemingly above him in the pecking order; and he may also face competition with Spearing, Aqualani, Merieles, Poulsen and Shelvey for that spot. So he is most likely to be utilised as a RM (Where he excels in my opinion because of his accurate delivery) as it is difficult to justify having a £16million player on the bench. We probably won’t get another winger in until we can offload some players in that position. Kuyt, Maxi, Merelies, Cole and Shelvey all played that wide positions last season. We are not going to offload Kuyt or Shelvey, it is unlikely Maxi will be offloaded after recently getting the no.11 shirt, Cole will stay I feel and Merelies will hopefully also stay. If any space did open up I think Nathan Dyer of Swansea is worth a punt, he is currently entering the last year of his contract and could be bought for around £2million. However, with the current congestion in midfield I feel the defence is the next area Kenny and Commoli will strengthen.
