Reports coming out of Italy today (Thursday) suggest that Alberto Aquilani will be staying at Liverpool despite being linked with a move back to Italy with Fiorentina.

Aquilani’s agent, Franco Zavaglia, spoke to Radio Mana Mana and said:

“Aquilani will certainly stay at Liverpool.”

“Alberto has got over his ankle problem, he’s back in the international set-up and has the characteristics needed to do well in the Premier League.

“He’s in pre-season training with Liverpool and has played in all of the team’s summer tour games so far.”

For now that puts to bed the debates on whether Aquilani will be staying or going this summer. I guess what we can now focus on is where Aquilani is going to fit into Kenny’s plans on the field. With so many options for Dalglish in central midfield, it is going to be interesting to see what comes out of it. On the other hand, could Aquilani staying signal the end of Raul Meireles’ time at Liverpool?

    I hope he stays

  2. Bill says:

All these stories about him leaving are the fault of his agent looking for a good payout and a UK press that are more interested in hacking than being real hacks.
