With Kenny Dalglish having to let go of some players first before new ones come in, the speculation today at Liverpool is on players leaving the club. Reports today are suggesting that Wolves want to sign Jay Spearing on a season long loan.
Spearing recently signed a new long term deal with Liverpool after coming into the first team towards the end of last season and doing very well with Lucas in the centre of the park. But the 22-year-olds chances may be limited this coming season due to the return from injury of captain Steven Gerrard and the signings of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam.
A move to Wolves for Spearing would be beneficial to all parties involved in my opinion. Spearing would be able to get more game time which will build him as a player and there is no better way of doing so than still remaining playing in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Spearing may be the deputy to Lucas as a defensive midfielder in the Liverpool squad. If Lucas gets injured or is out of form, who would replace him as the defensive midfielder if we loan of Spearing?
What are your thoughts on all of this?
Let him go out on loan – I like him but hes not gonna get a game this season. Keep Aquilani – he impressed in the last game.
Hurry and get a LB and CB – Cissokho and Godin would be great additions.
I would also rival Bolton for Jeffren if its for 5 million – we defo need more talented wingers.
I do not think it is a good idea sending him out on loan. We need him. rather send Jonjo out and hopefully by the time he comes back he will realise that Liverpool are the team in red and should pass the ball to them and not the opposition like he did in some games last season!!!
I agree with Sean he is the only other holding midfielder we have who will not naturally drive forward he will be second to Lucas for the holding midfield role. Jonjo Shelvey needs game time so I expect to see him loaned out to Blackpool or Wigan. Aquilani may have been good in pre season but judging by Kenny brushing off Henry’s comments coupled with the fact that he is yet to receive a squad number I expect Aquilani to head back to Italy for around £10m. Liverpool need to shift a couple of central midfielders, Poulsen is obviously on his way but also one of Meireles or Aquilani will leave and I know I would prefer to have Meireles. Simon Woods you have to question why Lyon are desperate to get rid of him, he is notorious for a bad attitude and has medical problems I would like to see us move for the man Lyon want to replace him with Trembeles{spelling off} of Bordeaux or even better Baines but I can’t see that happening. Liverpool will more than likely sign Enrique for around £5m as he is cheap and available but i’m not sure he will be the long term solution to left back but maybe he could plug the gap for a few years till Robinson breaks through, as for Godin he would be a great signing and he is apparently good friends with Suarez.

@yomi – the perfect cover for Lucas would be Agger. I believe that if Agger got a run at DM he would become World class, maybe make people forget Makele.
