With Uruguay progressing through to the semi-finals of the Copa America where they take on Peru tonight, Luis Suarez is set to be given an extended break by the Liverpool staff after the tournament so he can rest and be fit for the new Premier League season.

Suarez has been playing very well for Uruguay in the tournament and he could easily lead his team to the final on Sunday if they overcome Peru. Not many thought Uruguay would get this far in the tournament as it was expected that Argentina would beat them in the quarter-finals. But Suarez and his team overcame the hosts in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Even if Uruguay lose tonight they will still have to play the third-place playoff (a game which I still believe has no meaning in these international tournaments) which means Suarez would have played 9 games for his country since the end of the Premier League season.

Knowing Suarez and the passion he has for the game, he would want to be in the Liverpool starting lineup come August 13 against Sunderland for the opening game of the season but he is going to need a rest and be eased back slowly into the side as we have a long season ahead of us.

Ill bet he wants to be involved…but he could quite easily take 2 weeks off with a week back at training and still play vs sunderland.

Suarez is a true RED! The season is not built on 1 game…it is a long season and we need him healthy. We know KD and folks will do the right thing and ease him in instead. Not having him in the line up is a lost but KD still has plenty to chose from.

He’s as fit as a fiddle and will want to play from the off. KK will have to make a decision. LFC will claim our title back this season.
