Liverpool desperately need to sign a new left-back this summer but it should NOT be Wayne Bridge in my opinion. Reports today suggest that Liverpool will make a move for the Manchester City left-back this summer in order to solve our left-back problem.
Bridge spent last season on loan to West Ham as he could not break into the Manchester City side. Now that City have signed Gael Clichy from Arsenal and they also have Aleksander Kolarov, Bridge would be the third choice left-back at City and thus would not get any games. For his sake, he needs to move to a team where he will play regularly.
I can not see Liverpool signing Wayne Bridge for two simple reasons: He is old, at 30-years-old, I can not see FSG sanctioning the purchase of a player that old. Secondly, I do not think he is good enough to make it into the Liverpool team.
We need to be buying quality players to make us better. Gone are the days of buying average players in the hope that they will do well. Signing Bridge, for me, would be like re-signing Paul Konchesky who has just left Liverpool for Leicester.
I certainly hope that this rumour of Liverpool wanting to buy Wayne Bridge is nothing but a smoke screen to get the likes of Newcastle to sell us Jose Enrique.
Agreed.
full backs should never *AND THE ROCK MEANS NEVER!!* be signed between the ages of 29-30. Have We not learned from Staunton and Konchesky? A lot of premiership players in general suffer from a massive drop in pace for whatever reason over the summer break (I’ll throw Joe Cole and Poulsen into the ring as well). We can’t afford another big earner, non performer on our books.
I agree with what you are saying. I think this is all hot air created by the media. No way will FSG or even KK consider such a move.
please come and sign him haha
Nothing to see here, move along, move along…
I would take Aurelio and Insua over Bridge any day! We should just try a 20million bid for Baines and see what Everton say. Baines, Downing and Dann would be 3 dream signings for us.
You CANNOT build a winning team with all of this British crap we are overpaying for! Dalglish has lost the plot..
