Liverpool have missed out on signing the highly rated Columbian defender, Cristian Zapata. The central defender was linked with a move to Liverpool this summer from Udinese but instead he has decided to join Spanish club Villarreal.
A club statement read: “Udinese announces it has sold the sporting rights of Colombian defender Cristian Zapata to Villarreal.
“We wish to thank the player for his professionalism during his six years at the club and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Liverpool have now missed out on this 24-year-old central defender and I wonder if this means Dalglish believes he does not need to sign another central defender or his is looking elsewhere?
I am still not sure if we need to sign another central defender. Although Carragher is aging, I still think he will be Kenny’s first choice center back this season and partnering him will be down to the form and fitness of Agger, Skrtel or Soto. Martin Kelly and Danny Wilson are also young capable central defenders who could come into the side if need be.

There’s also Martin Kelly who can play in the centre, allowing Johnson to retain his position. The priority is a left back.

He signed for them last week! His agent said he was interested in a move to Liverpool as we had been rumoured to be interested in him! So if KK really wanted he’d be a Liverpool player but he’s not so I guess we didn’t want him! Hate it when reports say we have missed out on another player! The only player we have missed out on is Jones! Everyone was interested in signing Young so we didn’t really miss out on him we just tried our look with him but he just chose to join the mancs! We didn’t miss out on Wickham either again if KK wanted him he would be a Liverpool player as he was desperate to sign for us! Don’t believe everything you read as apparently Doni was meant to be having a medical at Liverpool yesterday but did he? Nope! I think he should sign a more proven leftback first before a new central man. As for me i will take kelly ahead of soto when agger and skrtel got injured
