The pace of transfer signings at Liverpool this summer has started to pick up. We started off the summer with a bang by signing Jordan Henderson from Sunderland. Things cooled down for a bit until yesterday (Wednesday) when Liverpool agreed on a deal with Blackpool for Charlie Adam. It is now just a formality with regards to Liverpool announcing that Adam is a Liverpool player.

Now Kenny Dalglish is hoping to complete his third signing of the summer this week as Roma goalkeeper, Doni, should be arriving at Liverpool on a free transfer.

The deal to bring Doni to Liverpool seemed to have been off earlier on in the summer as Doni apparently did not agree on terms with Liverpool. Now he is ready to join us according to his agent.

“The clubs reached agreement over Doni’s transfer last month but the keeper could not agree personal terms,” said Doni’s agent, Ovidio Colucci.

“We just have to ratify certain details with Roma. If the deal is completed, Doni will join Liverpool on a free transfer and will sign a two-year contract.”

Doni may not big a marquee signing that many fans would like but he will be a good addition to the squad as back up to Pepe Reina. I always fear, “what would happen if Pepe gets injured for 3 months?” Thankfully we have never had Pepe out injured for long spells since we signed him but we have to budget for such situations. With Doni’s experience and pedigree, he would be a good choice to step in if Pepe is unavailable.
