With Liverpool reportedly having had their latest bid for Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing rejected, attention has now shifted to see who else Liverpool can sign this summer to solve the winger crisis. The name of Lyon’s Brazilian star Michel Bastos is the latest name to be linked today according Fanatix.

There has not been much speculation in the past linking us with Bastos so when I came across this news today I got excited as this potentially could be a good move for us. The fact that he is 27-years-old means that FSG will have to be seriously convinced to sign him as he is not that young anymore. But hopefully they will see how talented he is and make an exception.

The fact that Bastos is able to play at left-back or left wing is an attractive option for Dalglish as we are also in need of a left-back. For Brazil, Bastos plays at left-back but for Lyon he features more on the wing.

Bastos was meant to be moving from Lyon to Juventus this summer for £12million but that move has broken down and thus the suggestion now that Liverpool could make a move for him.
