As we get closer to the players reporting back for pre-season training, one person who will part part of the returning contingent is Alberto Aquilani. Aquilani was loaned out to Juventus last season and he hoped he would join the Italian club on a permanent basis but that deal fell through and he now returns to Liverpool.

“I return to Liverpool with great enthusiasm,” Aquilani told Sky Italia. “This is not a problem. It’s not true that I didn’t want to return to England.”

There is still a chance that Aquilani could be sold this summer if we get a buyer for him. But for now he is a Liverpool player and Dalglish will find a way to include him into next seasons plans.

Credit to Dalglish for not shutting the door in Aquilani’s face. Last month Dalglish said that he would be happy to have Aquilani back for the coming season.

“There’s a distinct possibility he could be back here. He’s a quality player. He got off to a bad start here with his injuries and never really got going after missing pre-season.” Dalglish said last month.

“He went out on loan and has done very well over there.

“If he was to come back here, for me that would be like a new face coming in. I don’t know of any deadline, I wasn’t privy to the conversations that were had.“
