The summer transfer drama is now getting to be as good as a soap opera! Manchester United had thought that they had sealed a deal to sign Phil Jones from Blackburn for £16million after the player had undergone a medical and agreed terms with the Old Trafford club but only to find out that Blackburn had not accepted United’s £16million offer and were holding out for more.
Now step in Liverpool; Liverpool have been hot on the heels of Jones and thought to have missed out on signing him after he opted to go join United but now it seems the ball is in the court of the team with more money and if there is still a glimmer of hope for Liverpool to sign Jones then I am sure they will do all they can.
This would be a perfect way for Liverpool to flex their financial muscle which they have already shown this summer by signing Jordan Henderson who was also a Manchester United target. It is thought that Liverpool made a bid yesterday (Saturday) worth £22million for Jones which would be more in line with what Blackburn want for the player. United will have to up their original £16million to match or better Liverpool’s if they are to get their man.
Blackburn will clearly be listening to the club that offers more money. My concern now though is, if Blackburn accept Liverpool’s offer ahead of United’s will Jones agree to join Liverpool as he clearly wants to join United?

I’d prefer us to spend the £22m and little more on Hazard or Mata personally, but equally love the way that Dalglish gets under Fergie’s nose…. Skanky Mancs were going to knock you off our rightful perch…. And doesn’t whisky nose know it…..

Would luv to get another one over fergie and worst case that he still goes to the scum but they end up paying 6m more then they had hoped to!
It’d be great to have the best england defender over the next 10 yrs in our ranks but I dont want Jones at lpool if he would prefer the Mancs.
I also dont think will sign any real marquee signings this summer. KK is obviously trying to sign british but it would be good to get a few classy players from the continent. downing, clichy/enrique, adam are safe buys untill we can offer champs league to top calibre players next season
Hazard will stay at lille for another season the get champs league exp before. I agree with ‘M’, we need to look at Sakho, expensive but Is the sort of plyer who could be in the Marcel Desailly mould.
Mata wont be at liverpool this summer, again one more season at Valencia the next summer will be his ‘big ,ove’ to the prem. Liverpool to finish 4th and hopefully a decent cup run. Lets not get carried away, hate to say it but Utd look to be building again and we cannot expect KK to win the title untill 2012/13.
