“ALONSO STAY” is the banner that greeted Xabi Alonso in August 2008 during a pre-season game against Lazio. This was at the peek of the speculation that Alonso was going to leave Liverpool after Rafa Benitez decided to sell him when we the fans did not want him to leave.

Up until today, many Liverpool fans have never wanted Alonso to leave Liverpool and many still call for him to come back especially via Twitter. But Alonso is now a Real Madrid player and he is enjoying life in Madrid but he is still open to a return to Liverpool one day.

In a world exclusive interview – which premiered on LFC TV on Sunday night – the Spanish midfielder spoke about the chances of him returning to Liverpool one day. When asked if there is any chance of him wearing the famous Liverpool shirt again, Alonso said:

“Why not? I think that in football so many things change, and why not? I have my red passion and if circumstances arrived then why not? At the moment I don’t know what is going to happen, but it could be a possibility. Never say never.”

Alonso is a very good player & in other circumstances I’d welcome a player of his tactical , technical , responsible professional excellence to our club .
    But…..
We have too many players already at our club who played in underachieving Liverpool sides under managers content with mediocre league positions.
At Liverpool Football Club , every season we see OUR League title & yes it is OURS & we have both a divine right to win it & a divine responsibility to win it every season , but we are only human & sometimes we fail & when we do fail to win it & see it go elsewhere it is like a knife through our hearts , to us it is like helplessly watching as some monster kidnaps our cherished son or our cherished daughter .
We as a club can not function sanely without our precious League title .
Xabi never played for us under that realization , nor did Rise , Mascherano or Torres .
In terms of Legend , out of those maybe only Xabi would make it onto the bench of our 5’th string all time greatest side while the likes of Torres would be stuck in a closet somewhere cleaning the muck from Ian Rush’s boots along with Rise who would be cleaning Alan Kennedy’s boots & Macherano who would have to wait his turn to clean even Steve McMahons boots .
Alonso had his time with us but we do not want to repeat that time & go even one more season without OUR League Title which is the very heart & soul of our Club , it is the air we breathe .
We need players who share our ambitions , not players who see us as a soft place to lay .
Thanks for the very few good times Xabi buts lets leave the recent Leagueless past where it belongs …& thats in the past !
THERES ONLY ONE KENNY DALGLISH !!!
