It will be very difficult for Liverpool to get into the Europe League next season after the 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday. But we have to continue to believe until the final game against Aston Villa that we can pip Spurs for 5th. If Spurs do not get maximum points in their final game of the season and we beat Aston Villa then we will finish 5th.

A lot of fans have been debating today about whether it is actually a good or bad thing that Liverpool may not have European football next season. Ex-Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann believes failing to qualify for Europe next season could be a blessing in disguise for his old club.

The German told TalkSPORT: “Missing out on the Europa League could be a blessing. No-one at the club can say that, but I can. It’s a majorly devalued competition. There were three Portuguese teams in the semi-finals this season and, no disrespect to them, but I can’t remember the last time a Portuguese team was in the semi-finals of the Champions League, or even the quarter-finals.
“For the development of Liverpool a season without European football won’t do them any harm. If they finish sixth I don’t think Kenny will be too unhappy about that.”

Do you agree with Hamann?

  1. It would have been good to give youngsters a run out but as far as doing well in the league I guess it does get in the way with Thursday fixtures.

  2. joe barnes says:

We can use the league cup to give the youngsters and fringe players game time.
so it really aint a loss in my eyes its a plus
