Today’s clash against Tottenham is a key match for both sides because if Liverpool win they will clinch 5th place and a spot in next season Europa League. There has been a lot of debate as to whether playing in the Europa League would be a good thing for Liverpool next with some saying it would be best for Liverpool to just focus on the league next season and not have the distraction of games on Thursday night in the Europa League. But the younger players at Liverpool such as Jonjo, Spearing, Flanagan and Robinson who broke into the first team this season would benefit from the Europa League as they will get more game time.

But looking ahead to this afternoon’s clash, a lot of focus will be on Luis Suarez who has taken to the Premier League like a fish in water when some had doubted if the former Ajax striker would adapt quickly to the league. Harry Redknapp was in the race to sign Suarez from Ajax but he has recently come out and said he turned down signing Suarez from Ajax because he has told Suarez was more of a number 10 than the number 9 he was after. Redknapp says that Spurs already had a player like Van der Vaart who was similar to Suarez. I bet you know that Redkanapp is kicking himself for not signing Suarez after seeing the impact he has made on Liverpool. Suarez versus Van der Vaart : if think that is a no brainer of a question, Suarez is a better player, hands down!

Today will be the perfect opportunity for Suarez to show Redknapp, at first hand, what he is all about. I am so glad that Spurs did not pursue their interest in Suarez and the player ended up joining Liverpool. Spurs’ loss has been our gain and just to put the icing on the cake we are going to pip them to a 5th place finish!

One response to “Suarez : Go show Redknapp what he missed out on”

How’d that work out then? Suarez dived about on the few occasions he got out of Ledley King’s back pocket. Van der Vaart is a better player.
