Reports this weekend suggested that Tottenham may be looking to offload their star winger Aaron Lennon as he is not seeing eye to eye with coach Harry Redknapp. Redknapp has come out and said that if Spurs sell their stars players this summer then he is going to leave the club as he believes that he can continue to challenge for honours with the current players they have. Now Lennon has been one of their key players this season although he has been injured most of the time having only started 22 games this season.

Lennon is one of the finest wingers in the Premier League today as he has the pace to beat virtually any other player in the league. However it is thought that Lennon does not listen to the instructions he is give by Redknapp and that has resulted in a rift between the two of them speculating that Lennon may be sold in the summer.

If Lennon goes up for sale then Liverpool would be one of the first clubs linked to buying him as Liverpool desperately need an out and out winger this summer. Lennon fits the bill perfectly to add some much needed pace and width to the current Liverpool side. Lennon would most likely cost Liverpool £15 million which the new owners should be able to afford. Lennon is English and only 24 years old which ties in perfectly with the new Liverpool policy of buying young local talent.

Liverpool are also heavily linked with a move for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young this summer. Young would cost a bit more than Lennon as many believe Young is a better winger that Lennon. One just has to look at the comparison of statistics between the two this season: Young has chalked up 7 Premier League goals this season compared to Lennon’s 3. Being wingers, the key statistics will be assists. Young has 9 assists in the league this season with Lennon only notching up 3. One thing Lennon really has to improve on is his crossing. Yes, Young has started 10 more games this season than Lennon but that just goes to show how injury prone Lennon is.

Who would you prefer Liverpool bought this summer between the two? Signing both of them would be an absolute pleasure but I can not see us splashing out no less than £30 million on the pair as Young will most likely be sold for about £20 million.

Who would you want Liverpool to sign between Young and Lennon?

I’ll take Aaron Lennon for the right wing and Stewart Downing NOT Ashley Young as he is over rated and will probably be very expensive.
If we could get young for around 15-18 million, then i would consider, other wise too expensive.
Lennon doesn’t boast an impressive goal and assist tally but has all attributes we are lacking. Fast, technical and a wide player. He may come cheap as well.
However, both of them are welcome at LFC
    YNWA

    BOTH! LOL

Neither… Both typify limited English players. Able to run fast in a straight line without any end product. Liverpool dont need ‘traditional’ wingers they need intelligent players with the ability to move and play in restricted space. modern football doesn’t require players to simply run and cross defences especially English ones can cope with crosses from the wing too easily.

Lennon and Young are two of the best wingers in Premier League and they could do a great job for Liverpool. These would be great signings for Liverpool. If I were to chose between them I would probably choose Lennon.

Is it a must that we buy an english winger where as there are good non english wingers who can make things happen in front of goal, players sanchez will fit. In fact why do we bother our selves about wingers when we are doing excellently in goal. I beleive the soccer of today is all about collective efficacy on the field and not relying on wingers to help win.
