Liverpool are set to make a summer move for Irish international midfielder James McCarthy when the transfer window opens in the summer. Kenny Dalglish is said to be a keen admirer of the Wigan midfielder who joined Wigan for £1 million in 2009 from Hamilton. It is understood that Dalglish has had the young 20 year old star who has 3 caps for Ireland already scouted this season.
McCarthy fits perfectly into FSG’s new policy of trying to sign the best young British talent in the game and would be a welcome addition to the Liverpool squad. McCarthy is almost certainly set to be on his way out of Wigan, esepcially of they lose their battle to stay in the premier league which seems very likely as Wigan remain in the bottom three of the table with 3 games left.
McCarthy will not be the only player almost certain to leave Wigan if they get relegated with the likes of Charles N’Zogbia, Hugo Rodallega and Maynor Figueroa also certain to leave.
Phew…when I saw the title “Liverpool to move for Irish International”, I had palpitations. I thought Robbie Keane was coming back!

He’s a great prospect and a skillful player, but in attack I think we’re better focussing on pacey players.

What policy? Policy of having Shelvey, spearing, Pacheco and others in that wing coming up? Come on we can’t lavish any more money on overrated British players. If Suarez were British he would cost 60million! If he wants a young player in that area, it should be Eriksen, Amrabat or Banega or defour not some crap overhyped british player who cannot compete at the highest level.
Eh he fits in perfectly to FSG,s policy of signing the best young british players by signing an Irish player. Makes sense.
i don’t realy understand the what kenny and comolli are planning to during summer market,what are they going to do with mc’carthy when there are a very good talented midfielders in europe,i don’t keeny comolli have any plan of competing in europe next season that’s why they -kenny and comolli -only goe’s for british and france players these is unbelievable.
I think we should manage our resources(cash,human) well. Lets save the money to bring in a player(mid fld) and try to bring back aquilani. Moreover our midfield is okay,with lucas,meire,spearing and having aquilani back will be good.
