As far as I am concerned, Liverpool played poorly yesterday in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at The Emirates. For me there was nothing to cheer about. Arsenal also did not play very well and the result is a reflection of that. The following issues are my compliments and concerns from yesterday:

1. Pepe Reina – it will be a huge loss if he left us in the summer.

2. Our defence played well. Carra and Skrtel are beginning to play well together. I also thought young John Flanagan was very good. He gets stuck in and reads the game well. He can only get better. As for Aurelio, why do we waste subsititutions by playing that cripple? His replacement was not very good. I thought the young man gave Theo Walcott too much space. He was afraid to make that decision to commit and ended up just running with Theo hoping for Theo to make a mistake. It was his first game, we can cut him some slack but he has to improve.

3. Lucas played well and so did Jay Spearing. Spearing though should stop those square passes deep in our half or passing back. We need to move forward. We are wasting Raul out wide, he needs to play behind the strikers if SG is absent.

4. Dirk Kuyt had one of his off days, didn’t give us much going forward.

5. Carrol and Suarez had decent games upfront. Both had to drop deep to get balls and being players without much speed it was expecting too much of them. We badly need a speedy winger or striker to use for counter attacks. Our play was one dimensional, focus on Suarez beating 2 or 3 Arsenal defenders to get us anywhere near shooting distance. We need to rectify this.

6. My biggest gripe: WHY DOES KENNY KEEP PLAYING JONJO SHELVEY????? Clearly the youngster is useless. I would d have thought Ngog would have given us more going forward. Kuyt would have remained wide and Suarez as well and Ngog in the middle. At least he can score. Jonjo is over-rated!

I thought that was a soft Lucas penalty, we deserved that point. We toiled hard for it. This was probably our best chance of beating any Arsenal team at The Emirates. Gunners have been poor this season and in my opinion to go there defend is a terrible mindset. Unfortunately that is what Kenny did yesterday.

Bizarre. Robinson is 17 years old ffs.
    What Lucas penalty?
    Shelvey is also very young.
We had half a defence to start with then lost that. Aurelio was the only choice for that position if fit, and he was but we know he’ll never stay fit for more than a couple of games.
We lost Carroll and Kuyt did a good job expecially with the penalty under extreme pressure.
Er we know we need a winger it’s all most people have been talking about for weeks and we’ll recruit in the summer.
The spirit in the face of adversity was staggering – and it’s down to Kenny.
Given the lack of depth in the squad, the injury list, throwing in young kids at the deep end, losing a goal in the last minute then never giving up and getting an equaliser (read the rules Wenger) I thought we were brilliant – I wonder if you even watched the game.

You didn’t watch the game, mate. easily wrong on several accounts…like
    1. You don’t criticize a committed player for getting injured far too often.
    2. Robinson was pretty good, dominant in first half stopping all the crosses from a 1 D player named Theo Walcott.
    3. Suarez is surely a speedy striker wid lots of skill, why you fail to recognize that is beyond me.
    4. Ngog can’t score shit.
    5. Arsenal were not poor, they simply lacked the pride and determination our players carry under King Kenny.

Spot on. Couldn’t agree more. This article is b******s!

If we’d put Ngog on they would have pushed a defender up

  5. i agree with u on Shelvy. He seems to be shit. I also dont agree with those that say Luis has pace. He is extremely skillful and very classy bt nt speedy.
Oh yeah, Ngog would ave bn a better option than Jonjo. What has Jonjo ever done 4 us. No goals or assist.
Respect to our king 4 the point bt i thot we were too negetive. Meireles must be central. Maxi, Cole, Sterling or Incy must be given a chance on the wings. Kuyt and either Spearing can be benched.

Mate you obviously dont have a bloody clue. What a bad article. Wrong on almost every account.
    1. Aurelio is a quality player and any time we can get out of him is good time. Also if he doesnt play who does? Looks like robinson is due to start next game. Also on young 17 yr old jack robinson i thought he was our very best performer in the back four after carra went off and this is reflected in several opinion polls and match reports. He stood off walcott but if you watch he prevents walcott putting in almost all his crosses. Anyone that knows anything about defending knows you dont get tight to a fast player because they will turn you almost every time.

    2. Dirk kuyt never offers much. He will give the ball away with every pass and a free kick with every attempt at a tackle. All he ever does is pop up with important goals eg united hattrick. Quite possibly the worst player we have but you cant do without those goals.

    3. Mereiles wasnt played wide. Him suarez kuyt all rotate so its hard for defenders to settle. He actually spent most of the game toward the central areas.

    4. You obviously werent watching the right game yesterday as when shelvey came on he nearly cut open arsenal 3 or 4 times and as well as earned us the free kick before the goal (although he wasnt actually the one fouled) not to mention ngog is 22/23 and wont improve much more whereas shelvey is only recently 19 and has captained the under 19s several times before his injury not to mention considered one of the countries hottest young midfielders.

also before you slate the performance you should take into consideration that we played considerable amount of time with NONE of our first choice back four (undoubtedly it would be kelly carra agger johnson) and our captain(who just happens to be one of europes best players and the second best in our clubs history). Give credit where its due thats a massive point considering it was all stacked against us

Listen lad. I wud stop writin articles like this if u are goin to carry on gettin things wrong… Extremely wrong. I cant believe all the BS u are chattin. Our defence was solid for the duration of the game. Considering we are with out stevie, johnson, agger, and now aurelio. We did amazingly with the youngsters we had. They were a great example to all young players at our academy and were great defensively. They were that good i wouldnt mind having flannigan and robinson our two full backs and kelly at cb with carra. So untill u know what your on bout and have learnt a bit about football. Do us all a favour… And fuck off!
