Back in the summer of 2010, Real Madrid were looking to offload their Dutch ace Rafael van der Vaart and Liverpool were looking really closely at signing van der Vaart. But in the end the player decided to join Tottenham and he has gone on to be one of their key players this season. When the speculation was rife that van der Vaart would be leaving Madrid, I had hoped he would come to Liverpool as he could have been the type of creative player we needed in our side to unlock defences. But alas, Rafael never joined Liverpool and we got in Raul Meireles who has gone on to do a fantastic job for Liverpool.

Below is a video of Rafael Van Der Vaart showing off his skills as he juggles his chewing gum and then kicks it back up to his mouth to start chewing again. That just goes to show the skill this player possesses and why I rate him highly (although I am not too sure how hygienic it is to do what he is doing!)

Robben was the Real Madrid cast off that we really needed. Gerrard is still better than VdV
