The reports coming out of Melwood today are not good. Martin Kelly will be out of action for a month following the hamstring injury he picked up against West Ham on the weekend. This means that Kelly will not be available for the big game this Sunday against Manchester United, followed by games against Braga in the Europa League and a league game against Sunderland.

Kelly has now become the first choice right back having displaced Glen Johnson who has now found himself playing at left back. Funny enough, Glen Johnson has actually been playing very well at left back for Liverpool whilst Kelly shines on the right. Now with Kelly being out injured, does that mean Dalglish is going to have to push Johnson back to the right and call in either Aurelio (who himself is struggling with an injury) or Wilson to take over at left back?
Or does Kenny stick with Johnson on the left and ask Carragher to move to right back?

What Kelly’s injury just goes to show is that Liverpool are still lacking quality cover and depth in key positions. With Kelly injured and if Aurelio is not fit, we only have Glen Johnson as a recognised starting full back for both positions! Young Danny Wilson can slot in at left back which I think is what is most likely to happen but then again he is actually a center back by trade. Maybe Darby could have come in at right back but then again, he is out on loan. We are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now for full backs!

Liverpool simply have to go out and sign some quality full backs come the summer so we can avoid situations like these.

Who should be the Liverpool full backs now that Kelly is injured?
