It was not an easy game on Thursday night at Anfield against Sparta Prague. Liverpool had to battle until the end to get the 1-0 win thanks to Dirk Kuyt’s headed goal. It is not often Liverpool score directly from corners but this time we got it right.
You could just see how much this win meant to the team and none more so than Steven Gerrard who was watching the game from the stands as he was not fit enough to play. The celebrations of the players on the pitch and the guys in the dugout just went to show how much they wanted to win this game.
Now Liverpool can look forward to the next round against Portuguese side Braga.
