Many Liverpool fans have been wondering when they will finally see their new number 9 playing for Liverpool. Andy Carroll was signed from Newcastle in the January transfer window for £35m but he has not played yet for Liverpool as he came with a thigh injury that he sustained whilst still at Newcastle. Some reports had suggested that Carroll may not even play for the rest of the season but that is highly unlikely as Dalglish came out this morning and said that Carroll is making good progress.

“He’s progressing very well,” said Dalglish. “We never gave you a date for his return and we won’t. He’s progressing very well and we said it would be several weeks. We signed him for five and a half years, not a few weeks.

“As long as we are patient and Andy is patient then we’ll be okay. We won’t be rushing him back.”

Many fans hope that it will not be another Alberto Aquilani situation where we signed the player from Roma whilst he was injured and it took him forever to play for Liverpool and when he finally did he was not the player we expected.

So we will not be seeing Carroll lead the line anytime soon but let us hope he makes a speedy recovery and he will be banging in the goals for us soon.

Kuyt can do a job up there for now – with Suarez added to the mix, i think we can progress whilst Carroll is out. Once he’s back in, he’ll add that threat in the air and all round hold up play. But i don’t think we’re short up top in the meantime and i’d prefer for him to come back fit, even if that is pre-season for next year now, rather than coming back too sonn and causing himself a mischief!
