Liverpool picked up a great win yesterday (6 February 2011) against Chelsea. Going into the game, a lot of the talk was around Fernando Torres making his debut for Chelsea against Liverpool. Most thought that Torres would start off the bench for Chelsea but they decided to start him alongside Drogba and Anelka. The three of them did not seem to play well at all or was it simply because they were up against a well drilled Liverpool defence?

A lot of credit in yesterdays game has to go to our defenders as they did not give Chelsea many chances. I can not recall Pepe Reina making a signal notable save the whole game. Could this be down to Dalglish now opting to play with three central defenders? If the game went on for another hour, I do not think Chelsea would still have scored a goal.

In midfield, Lucas, Raul and Gerrard worked hard to stifle the Chelsea midfield and as ever Dirk Kuyt was been the ‘Duracell bunny’ we have gotten to appreciate. Maxi had a shocker of a game for me as he firstly gifted Torres a pass in the opening minutes of the game that lead Torres to having an attempt on strike, luckily he missed. Had Maxi forgotten that Torres was now a Chelsea player? And then secondly Maxi had arguably the miss of the season when he failed to tap in Gerrard’s cross into an empty net.

It was a great team effort yesterday but we have to choose a Man Of The Match. Does it go to Meireles for his goal or Lucas for working hard in midfield or Carragher for commanding the backline? Or maybe Agger for his elbow on Torres!

    Agger.

No coincidence we’ve kept 4 clean sheets on the trot and looked a lot more solid when Daniel is in the team.

He’s our best defender, along side the communicator Carra.

    New Torres song:

He used to be a Red, a Red Torres Torres
Then Chelski went and turned his head Torres Torres
He may get money, He may get fame, but he’ll never play for the ‘pool again
Coz we’ve got Suarez and Carroll’s our number 9 !!!!

    Up the reds!
