With Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher both out injured now for the next couple of weeks, Liverpool have lost their captain and vice-captain. Who do you think should take over the arm band?
There is no shortage of contenders ranging from Pepe Reina to Dirk Kuyt. What about Torres? Could giving him the arm band fire up his season? He did wear it at Atletico Madrid.

    Fernando is my answer.
The Arm Band could provide a huge positive boost, to our number nine.

Although I would agree the Reina is probably the natural choice and will probably end up gettng the armband. I do think giving it to Torres might just change his whole season around. Reina will still be just as impactfull and is a natural leader (plus I dont think keepers should be captains!). Torres given the responsibilty though, would have to lead by example, his whole body language would change and I hope really kick start his season !

I love the fact you’ve put Konchesky in there, but I’m not going to rise to the bait and click him. No matter how funny it’d be.

it’s gotta be torres, he would benefit the most from it.

I thought Reina to begin with, but I agree giving Torres the C would give him a confidence boost which he needs. Not as much as the start of the season. I think he loves the club the past few months have probably been rough (Remember he does have a pretty young kid now to) Also watching Spain win the world cup while being on the bench must be slightly depressing for a world class striker. I hope we win something this season for the players who have actually been working hard to win. I do not care for any Liverpool player who shows no passion or without the drive to win.

First of all, it kills me how there are actually (at the moment), 2 votes for Konchesky! Now, I know it’s for comic effect, however… could you imagine if it isn’t…?
Anyway, as some of you have pointed out already, I think Pepe Reina is the obvious choice for getting the captaincy, but there are two reasons that make me pick Torres as the perfect man for the part… first of all, it would give him a huge confidence boost and Torres having that kind of boost would be the most beneficial for Liverpool. The other reason is that if there is a part of Liverpool that really needs to move forward and improve is the attack- having been playing quite defensively under Roy- keep absorbing pressure and counting on somewhat lucky breakouts for a goal (see Bolton match). So naturally, a striker is better for that role than a goalkeeper. What can I say, I am a big supporter of “offence is the best defence”…
