Our best hope this season is finishing in the Top Four and maybe winning the Europa League or FA Cup. If we can achieve one out of those three then we would have had an okay season. But for me, I see this season as being one of rebuilding. We have just had new owners take over and they have come in with their own new ideas and policies. One of their main policies is bringing the best young talent to Liverpool. If they really want to make a statement of intent then they should not look past signing Eden Hazard.
Eden Hazard is a highly rated 19 year old Belgian international who is currently playing for Lille. Roy Hodgson was in France over the weekend to watch Eden Hazard play, this after Kenny Dalglish had also gone to watch the player play.
Hazard has attracted interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, and could cost as much as £18 million. Now that is a lot of money to spend on a 19 year old but he could be the next big name in football and if he were to join us ahead of the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid then that would be a huge achievement for Liverpool. It would get people standing up again and realising that we are still a big club and able to attract the best talent in the world.
In April, Zinedine Zidane told Spanish paper Marca that he considers Hazard to be the “star of the future,” adding that: “I’d sign him for Real Madrid with my eyes closed.” That just goes to show what a talent this lad is.
