Liverpool may just have to forget about signing Spanish hit man Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao. Llorente had been penciled in as a possible signing to partner Fernando Torres upfront. It would have been a dream combination and the kind of signing that may just convince Torres and Reina to stay at Liverpool. But now it is reported that Athletic Bilbao will only sell Llorente for €63 million. According to reports in the Marca newspaper, Real Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the striker in a bid to sign him but they may be put off by the high price tag.

The fee of €63 million is derived from the player already having a €36 million buyout clause, which would be increased by the tax to more than €63 million. Now if these are the terms and conditions of signing him and with our current financial situation, I can not see Liverpool being able to afford this. We may just have to look elsewhere for a striker although Llorente would have been great to have.
