Speculation has been rife over the last couple of days about the future of Christian Poulsen at Liverpool. It is no secret that Poulsen has had a terrible time at Liverpool ever since he arrived in the summer from Juventus as a replacement for Mascherano. The fans have been on his back all season long as he has just failed to put in a decent performance. I guess maybe that is why Lucas is playing well this season, the pressure is off him as the ‘boo boys’ now can pick on Poulsen and not Lucas anymore.

Sometimes I wonder why we even signed Poulsen. He did not coming in with glowing reviews and has not really been that type of a player you really want and need in your team. I guess Hodgson was desperate to get someone in to replace Mascherano and there were very few options in the transfer market available to him and thus he just settled for Poulsen. It is this mentality that has led Liverpool to carry a lot of mediocre players over the years. We can not compete anymore in buying world class players as we do not have the money and, hate it or not, many are not attracted to Liverpool. Back in the days, every player want to play for Liverpool but those days are gone now as many want to join a team that wins trophies or one that pays them well.

The reports this week have suggested that Poulsen may be off to Sevilla in the January transfer window but his agent has rubbished that and said Poulsen wants to stay and fight for his place at Liverpool. Personally, I would not mind seeing him go and we get back a bit of the transfer fee we paid for him in the process. I would keep Poulsen only for bolstering the depth of our squad as he will add to the numbers and in case of emergency when we desperately need someone to play, we can then call upon him.

Would you be sad if Poulsen left Liverpool?

Yes, I would be extremely sad if Poulsen left Liverpool alone because I would expect Hodgson, Lucas, Maxi, Johnson and a host of other deadwood to join him in the exodus.

Who else is going to make Lucas look like money well spent.

Yes. I would be sad, not because we would miss him but because he adds to the embarrassing circus of totally pointless and wasteful transfers over the years, along with Keane and Aquilani. It is not just money wasted it is preventing the right man coming in to the squad.

    I was sad he joined.
