Steven Gerrard Liverpool 2008/09

Another 2 points dropped in my opinion. It was never going to been an easy game but if we really want to win the title this season, it is games like this that we have to be winning. I must say I was a bit surprised when I saw our starting lineup for this game as Rafa had left both Keane and Torres on the bench and rather opted to go with Kuyt upfront. I just did not understand that. Maybe Torres being on the bench was understandable but why leave Keane out especially since he has started to find the back on the net. I kinda feel sorry for Keane now because somehow I do not see him starting against Everton as I believe Rafa is going to turn back to Torres upfront. But with that said, we still lost 2 points.

Yes we were under pressure for parts of the game but a team of our quality should have put Stoke away. And I must say there were stages in the games that I was on the edge of my seat where Stoke could have actually stolen all 3 points from us. The important thing was that we did not loose. But now the plot thickens after yesterdays game between Manchester United and Chelsea. I was really hoping that the game would end in a draw or even a Chelsea win as I feel United pose much more a threat to us than Chelsea. But United brushed Chelsea aside with ease winning 3-0. I now firmly believe that our trip to Old Trafford is potentially going to be the title decider and we somehow have to go and win at Old Trafford which is not impossible at all.

I was wondering during our game with Stoke if Rafa’s dig at Ferguson before the game would have affected the players? I would have thought that it only would have spurned our players on but I guess not. It is important for the lads to pick themselves up now for the derby this weekend. 3 points then would be just what the doctor ordered and I am sure we can do it.

Poor managerial decisions all round … not starting Keane and not taking Lucas off a hell of a lot earlier , What a nightmare he was having ! Roll on the return of Arbeloa too , I dont think Carra looks happy or comfortable at right back …
Let hope we get it back together for our double whammy against the blue side of mersey….
