I must say I was a bit surprised to find out that Ryan Babel wanted to go out on loan because he was not getting enough first team opportunities at Liverpool. Fair and fine, he has not been playing a lot this season but that is largely due to the form of Riera who has been occupying the left hand side of midfield. It is only natural for every player wants to be part of the first team on a regular basis but Babel should understand that he is part of the squad and will be used when Rafa’s sees fit.

I am glad Rafa rejected Babel’s request as we will need Babel this season just incase something goes wrong with Riera. Babel is young and he should understand he is not a superstar yet who will be the first name on Rafa’s team sheet. In fact, I am a bit disappointed with Babel’s request to go out on loan. Does he not want to play for us anymore and he is using that lack of first team opportunities as an excuse?

I see a great future for Babel and I hope it lies at Anfield. Everyone seems to be saying he is the next Thiery Henry but if he could achieve just half of what Henry did in the Premiership then he will be a great player.

One response to “What do you make of Babel’s loan request?”
